The last stage of the Bennington stage race started with and Max and I sitting in the top 10 in GC. Robin had placed 4th in the Crit the previous day. The road race was 98 miles over the hills surrounding Manchester VT with a few short dirt sections. This is easily one of the best courses I have ever ridden. Battenkill winner Brett Tivers from Garneau was in the leaders’ jersey and his team rode at the front all day. The group stayed together for the most part all day with small splits occurring up to the KOMs. With about 15 miles to go Roger Aspholm attacked and rode off the front with a good gap for 20 minutes. Garneau eventually reeled him back in and shortly after, with about 6 miles to go, Will Dugan attacked and got a good gap. Garneau kept a decent pace but did not chase. With 2 miles to go on a climb I bridged up to Will. Will and I worked together over the top of the hills and down into Manchester to the finish. Will came around me on the finishing straight to take the win with me 2nd. Robin Carpenter got the field sprint for 3rd. Our whole team rode well today at the front. Max and I ended up 6th and 7th on GC.
