BikeReg.com / Cannondale fielded a strong eight-man team at the 2009 Chris Thater Memorial Criterium in Binghamton, NY. Josh D., Thom, Steve, Alister, Justin, Dan, Nick, and I all lined up for the start. The racing was heated from the start, with Team Race's Francois Parisien taking a solo flyer in the first few laps. Once he was reeled in, we started sending riders up the road with everything. Everybody took a shot off the front, with Dan, Steve, and Alister making impressive bids to escape the pack.
Late in the race, Justin and Josh helped position me near the front, with Josh taking pulls up the hill to help reel in a late break that had most of the teams represented. With two laps to go, I was well positioned within the top ten. Things reshuffled on the hill in the last lap, but I dove the downhill corners to maintain competitive position. Coming into the sprint, the pace picked up as Team Race jumped the leadout train of Colavita. The top ten crossed the finish line in a tight bunch, and I was able to squeek into the top-ten with ninth place. Another top-ten NRC result for BikeReg.com / Cannondale, and enough points to move us into the #1 Amateur Team spot in the NRC Rankings!
