Nick Keough out lunging Mark McCormack for the win.
Setting up for the upcoming Nature Valley Grand Prix I headed up to Auburn Maine for the great Falls criterium with teammate Steve Weller. The race course was a one kilometer, four corner circuit with a gradual incline on the finish straight leading into a steep climb out of the first corner. Five laps into the thirty lap race I launched a counter attack off of an early move that Steve was in. After two laps solo, two riders bridged up to me. We rode together until the bell was rung for a prime lap. I sprinted for the prime and went away solo again with twenty eight laps to go. With Steve covering moves from the field I was joined shortly after by Mark McCormack. He and I rotated through smoothly until we came into the last lap. Coming out of turn two I was stuck on the front and he and I began to jockey for position. Mark jumped hard into the last corner and I was able to get right onto his wheel. I tightened up my line out of the corner and went on Mark’s left and took the sprint in the bike throw.
