The team meeting before the race emphasized the need to maintain a consistent presence at the front of the race. The GMSR had not used the Moretown course in a couple of years, but we knew that the chance of a break was very good. Even if it did end in a bunch sprint, we were confident that Eric Schildge would prove to be the best of the group.

Throughout the race, everybody was attentive and never letting a move go without at least one team rider. Dan and Nick were both in moves in the first half of the race, but neither proved decisive. With peleton together going into the final lap of four, Josh Dillon followed a move with caught out a number of the GC contenders including Vaillancourt who was still in yellow. With 15 miles remaining and at the height of the course, Josh and four others had built a 65 second advantage. A couple of individuals organized on the run-in to pull pack the break within the last 1 Km, effectively leading out Eric Schildge for the stage win. Eric kicked in the last 200 meters and made good use of the inside line to win by over a bike length. Eric was in green from his stage win and intermediary sprints. The overall was unchanged.
