In the pre-race meeting, the team agreed to work for Justin and I for a good result on the day which suited our strengths. I was very motivated because this race usually suits my strengths as a rider since it is a very wearing course. The change in course was going to switch things around a bit this year making it a bit more like a long grinding Belgian Kermesse.

I was wanting to be in the early break but missed it. Amore Vita brought everything back in the last few laps and I had to contain myself to not attack on the main difficulties to try and jump in the final. In the end, we caught the 10 man break with 400m. to go and being a strongman sprint I was able to place 8th in a very nervous sprint of tired legs. Amore Vita missed out on their win and Swedish riders dominated the podium.
